Miriam Coles Harris (July 7, 1834 - January 23, 1925) was an American novelist. She wrote several novels, a book of children's stories and two devotional books. She shunned publicity and wrote her first book, Rutledge (1860), anonymously. This resulted in several impostors claiming to be the author and more attention paid to Harris than would have been otherwise. After the death of her husband in 1892, she spent most of her time in Europe, dying in Pau, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, France in 1925. Read more at Wikipedia.
