Anne of Green Gables is the first of a series of books about redheaded orphan Anne Shirley from Prince Edward Island, Canada. Published in 1908, Lucy Maud Montgomery found her inspiration for the book in a story she wrote at a young age describing a couple that was mistakenly sent an orphan girl instead of a boy but decided to keep her. She also drew upon her own childhood experiences in on the Island. Recently considered a children's book, Anne of Green Gables was originally intended as a novel for all ages.
I just came over from AustenBlog and have to say this site is GREAT!
I'm taking 'Anne of Green Gables' and surely many others for my eReader.
Thanks! 😀
Oh my! My 52 years have been SO DISMAL without Anne! I would have felt more understood if I'd had her company.
Ladies! Sisters! If you haven't met Anne, put down whatever you may be doing to take her red head to your bosom & fall in love!
I haven't read Anne of Green Gables in such along time, but now I am doing so again. It is such a well written story, and always a great pleasure to read once again. Just love the way she talks about her first coming to Green Gables, it always puts a smile on my face. A book certainly worth reading over again.
I had always wanted to earn a story about a feisty girl like Anne, with sizable imaginations that would always make me smile, sigh and frown. Anne of Green Gables is a very interesting book. It is one of the oldest of it's kind, celebrating 100 years of Anne of Green Gables! I was very glad to have discovered that this unique story was up as an ebook ready for you to download so quick and easily. This book will certainly be my first or last to read again and again. 🙂
This is one of my favorite books. I read all the books in this series, (All 8books) I loved them all!!!......L.M. Montgomery is my idol,I want to write books like her some day.
I first read Anne of Green Gables as an assignment during my undergrad years. I have read several titles since, and bought all of the movies. I am excited to revisit one of my favorite authors.
