I loved E. Nesbit's books as a kid (and still do as an adult), but The Enchanted Castle was always my favorite. I think it was because I loved the idea that normal, everyday kids, playing at fantasy, could stumble upon real magic. As an adult, I can appreciate the humor in the novels that flies under most kids' radar -- usually poking gentle fun at children's antics. This is a great book, and doesn't lack for adventure -- the kids get into one delightful scrape after another. Not a dull moment!
