I amuse myself by imagining what the folks of Pickax and Mooseville would be doing, how the towns have changed. Here's some ideas : Derek Cuttlebrink is the mayor, also owner of the classiest restaurant in the county, his wife Elizabeth (who was mis identified as dead) still owns her shop in Mooseville, Fran Brodie was spotted by a HGTV scout and has her own design show on tv, Larry & Carol Lanspeak went to New York to do live theatre, their department store is being managed by one of Nick & Lori Bamba's kids, Nick & Lori took over managment of The Mackintosh Inn and eventually bought it from the K Foundation, Arch & Mildred Riker are having too much fun at the Something to even think of retiring, Mildred won a national award recognizing her ceasless volunteer work..... and Qwill rebuilt the barn, but just 2 stories high, easier to heat and cool, and Qwill got married!! (If you have anything in your mouth, swallow now!) he married Amanda Goodwinter. Only Amanda would put up with unexpected visitors at midnight, Qwill going to lunch or dinner with other women, asking strange questions, and I believe she'd believe in KoKo's psychic abilities.

Sue B I love your post. Just love it. Amanda Goodwinter to marry Qwill, you had me belly laughing! It might work. Post more, what about Susan Exbridge, Lois and her son, Celia and Mr. O'Dell, Jr, Jodie and their kids. What about Celia's grandson clayton?

Sue, your ideas for Pickax 10 years later are wonderful, especially about the two-story barn and Qwill marrying Amanda Goodwinter. I wonder if Amanda asked Polly to be her maid of honor. Wouldn't that be very Amanda-like?

Susan Exbridge is even more successful with her antiques business, she goes from strength to strength and is an appraiser on Antiques Roadshow. She still calls everyone “Darling”, and though she opened a branch in New York, Pickax is home. Junior Goodwinter is active in his kids school activities, was president of the PTA (or PTO)for a few years and is now teaching journalism at MCCC. The art center seems to thrive despite the Trevelyan Curse. Barb Ogilve manages it and it has recived national awards due to the efforts of Barb and Mildred Riker. Lenny Inchpot is a Rock Star!! No one knew about his talent except his mom, Lois, he won American Idol and is now touring the USA and Europe. Lois goes along during the winter to escape the weather which is aggravating her arthritis due to the long years on her feet. Thornton Haggis is continuing the historian activities of Homer Tibbit and the K Foundation will soon publish the first book of Moose County History by Homer Tibbit, co- author Thornton. There have been efforts to open a McDonald’s and extend the nearest freeway, or thru way (depending on what part of the country you live in) to Moose County, both of which were resoundingly put down. And Polly Duncan is rarely if ever even thought about.

The school superintendant formerly known as Sourpuss, Lyle Compton, has turned into a smiling, beaming, walks with a spring in his step man. What's to account for this amazing transformation? Parenthood. Several years into their marriage, Lyle & Lisa accepted that they would be childless so when Lisa went to Dr. Diane with nausea, abdominal bloating she was expecting a diagnosis of some dread disease. Lisa & Lyle were floored when the diagnosis was "parenthood". Lyle came home with stacks of books on pregnancy, child raising, home delivery vs hospital delivery, he made sure Lisa sat with her feet up, didn't tire herself, he bacame an expert on what a pregnant woman should eat.... in otherwords he became a bore. They now have 7 year old fraternal twins, a boy, a girl who are doted on, borderline spoiled, but overall ok.

With all the improvements Pickax and Moose County have experineced due to the K Foundation, people are moving to Pickax realizing it's a good place for families, excellent education, no drugs, almost crime free. A couple of new housing developments have sprung up, unfortunately, Shantytown still exists, a new elementary school has been built, enrollment at MCCC is thriving. Fortunately, Qwill has moved on from dressing in jumpsuits and warm up suits to more stylish chino's and polo shirts, he drives an American made 4 wheel drive, bright red SUV and has taken up cross country skiing. The Something publishes daily and Straight from the Qwill Pen is 3 days a week much to everyone's delight.

Hixie Rice and Joe Bunker aka Weatherby Goode got married. They had a large church wedding and reception since both are so well known in the county, they honeymooned in Tahiti and within 6 months of returning to Pickax they bought the local radio station. Neither one talked much about money or finances, only Big Mac the accountant knew their financial worth, but each one being thrifty had accumulated a very nice nest egg. They made a few changes to the station, more in depth news reporting, some talk shows, classical music during the day, jazz during the evening, and best of all some old radio classics like Fibber McGee & Molly, My Gal Sunday, Mystery Theatre.

As an FYI, Weatherby Goode was inspired, I believe, by a Detroit weather icon named Sonny Elliott who gives accurate but goofy weather reports, recites poetry slipped in between the temperature and humidity. Sonny has been in Detroit for years. During World War 2 he was a pilot, still is, was shot down over either France or Germany and was a POW a couple years. He's an upbeat, positive, really decent guy. I have no idea if he and LJB knew each other but I'm sure she listened to his weather reports.

Sue B I am flabergasted, dumbfounded. You have the flair of LJB. You have such wonderful ideas, do you have time to turn them into a series of books here in the fan fiction site. I would be the first to read them. Your humor and imagination is wonderful. Keep it up. Praline. PS, thanks for your kind comment about my book: From polly's point of view

Oh my goodness, look at my head swell! Thanks for the kind praise. I guess reading TCW books over the years has rubbed off, I truly have no talent just a vivid imagination . It amazes me how LJB could weave so many threads in a story and tie them all up neatly at the end. I think when the stories got less and less layered was when I suspected all was not well with her, bless her heart. Anyhow, I'm just having fun imagining "what if".

Celia Robinson O'Dell and Patrick O'Dell have retired from the catering business, Mr. O'Dell still has his home maintenence business but has hired a full time manager to run it since they neither are "spring chickens" anymore. Celia's grandson Clayton moved to Pickax as soon as he graduated high school and enjoyed a loving enriching relationship with his grandmother and step granddad. He enrolled in Moose County Community College, graduated at the top of his class, was accepted into MIT where he graduated at the top of his class in astrophysics. Now at 23 years old, he's working on deep space exploration and is engaged to a wonderful girl who also loves Celia and Pat. Celia gleefully continues to be Qwill's secret agent.

Oh, this is just too much! What creative ideas! I especially like the idea about Hixie and Joe getting married. I have always loved Hixie, and Qwill has such a fatherly affection for her.
