I just watched I Capture the Castle (based on book by Dodie Smith). It is quite good! It's available on Netflix watch instantly if you have that: http://www.netflix.com/Movie/I.....e/60027691
Romola Garai (from Daniel Deronda and Atonement) is great as the less beautiful and more introspective younger sister. The father, Bill Nighy, I'll always remember as the hilarious, dated rock star from Love Actually.
I haven't read the book yet, but I hear that this film is a pretty faithful adaptation. Is there anyone who's read the book and seen this movie?

To follow up this thread, Laurel Ann at Austenprose.com just published a great post about allusions to Jane Austen's writings in I Capture the Castle:

We think alike again. I loved Bill Nighy from "Love, Actually". This was a fun review. "Prada and Prejudice" also sounded interesting. What an hilarious name for a book!

That movie cracked me up! Bill was a riot as the aging rock star. I loved it when Colin Firth went to propose to his lady love. The subtitles were hilarious.
The first movie I remember seeing Bill Nighy in was The Girl in the Cafe or something like that, a drama. He was participating in some world conference on hunger and other issues. He meets a girl in a cafe and then takes her to this conference. The girl is a bit outspoken. I liked the movie, Bill and the gal that played the girl. Although the story was serious, Bill did bring some comedic touches to the story without being over the top.
